Our client is one of the leading transport and Logistics Company in Kenya-offering fast, efficient and reliable services.

Due to business growth and expansion, it is seeking to recruit dynamic, suitably qualified and competent individuals with self-drive and result / target orientation for the position of Driver.

Department: Operations

Reports to: Fleet Coordinator

Salary Range: 18,000 Gross

No of Positions: Sixteen (16)

Job Location: Nairobi, Eldoret, Kisumu, Mombasa

Placement: Immediate

Job Purpose: Achieve considerable driving and trucking skills along with great ability to drive in a safe manner in order to provide excellent services and perform preventive maintenance effectively and maintain fuel efficiency.

Key Accountabilities (Duties and Responsibilities)

• Operates the truck following training in safety measures and defensive driving techniques as prescribed in driver’s manual and emergency response procedure.


• Meet delivery schedules and adhere to planned routes(journey plans) and complying with all rules (no go zones)


• Collect and verify instructions and monitor all loading and off loadings.


• Report all defects, incidences, accidents involving the truck and products conditions immediately they happen.


• Operate the truck following all legal regulations and ensure proper documents are in place (insurance, VIC’s, speed governor certificates, calibration chart etc.)


• Keep the truck clean and well maintained and inspect vehicles for mechanical issues if need and be and verify, preventive maintenance and pre and post inspections


• Comply in terms of reporting to work and observing rules on drugs and alcohol, seat belt policy, truck driving rules(size, weight, route-designation, break/rest periods etc. while on duty


• Maneuver trucks into loading and unloading positions.


• Follow applicable traffic rules.


• Monitor weather and road conditions and watch out for traffic conditions, updating the tracking team immediately of any difficult on the same


• Complete all documents correctly and on a timely basis as required by the company


• Drive long distances or distances delegated to you


• Take responsibility of products


• Follow terms and conditions of the contract

Person Specifications (Qualifications and work experience)

• Aged 25 years and above and younger than 50 years;


• Ability to drive for long hours and travel regularly;


• Extensive knowledge of applicable truck driving rules and regulations;


• No recent moving or driving violations;


• Adaptability and foresight to handle unexpected situations (traffic, weather conditions etc)


• A valid certificate of good conduct;


• ART stamp older than 5 year’s;


• 5 years progressive experience driving a trailer (MUST HAVE)
