Job Description


We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and experienced individual to join our team as an accountant. The accountant will be responsible for overseeing financial operations, maintaining accurate records, and providing insights to support informed decision-making.


Responsibilities:



  1. Financial Reporting:

    • Prepare and analyze financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, regularly to assess the financial health of the supermarket and identify trends or areas of concern.

    • Generate and distribute financial reports to management, providing insights and recommendations for improving financial performance and achieving business objectives.



  2. Budgeting and Forecasting:

    • Develop annual budgets and financial forecasts in collaboration with management, incorporating input from various departments to ensure alignment with strategic goals and objectives.

    • Monitor budgetary performance throughout the fiscal year, tracking actual results against budgeted targets and investigating variances to identify root causes and recommend corrective actions.



  3. Accounts Payable and Receivable:

    • Manage accounts payable processes, including invoice verification, payment processing, and vendor reconciliation, to ensure timely and accurate payments while optimizing cash flow management.

    • Oversee accounts receivable functions, including invoicing, collections, and customer account reconciliation, to minimize delinquencies and improve cash flow efficiency.



  4. Inventory Control:

    • Coordinate with operations and procurement teams to establish and maintain accurate inventory records, performing regular reconciliations and adjustments as necessary to ensure proper valuation and reporting of inventory assets.

    • Analyze inventory turnover ratios, aging reports, and shrinkage trends to identify opportunities for cost savings, process improvements, and inventory optimization.



  5. Compliance and Audit Support:

    • Ensure compliance with accounting principles, industry regulations, and internal policies and procedures, maintaining proper documentation and supporting schedules for audits and regulatory filings.

    • Assist with internal and external audits by providing requested documentation, answering inquiries, and implementing audit recommendations to strengthen internal controls and mitigate risks.




Qualifications:



  • Diploma or degree in accounting, finance, or related field

  • CPA certification 

  • Minimum of 2 years experience in accounting preferably in the retail industry.

  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel; experience with QuickBooks or similar programs is a plus.

  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to interpret financial data and identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with teams and communicate financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
