Job Title: Accountant – Embu

Reporting to: COO

Industry: Agribusiness & Hospitality

Location: Embu

Gross Salary: KES. 40,000 – 45,000

Job Purpose: Ultimately, you will provide the company with accurate quantitative information on financial position, liquidity and cash flows of the business, while ensuring the business is compliant with all tax regulations.

Our client is a well-established agribusiness company in Embu, Kenya.

They also run a chain of fast-food restaurants.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

• Manage all accounting transactions and ensure they are well captured in the system


• Prepare budget forecasts for the farm as well as the restaurants


• Ensure timely publishing financial statements


• Diligently handle monthly, quarterly and annual closings


• Reconcile all accounts payable and receivable


• Ensure timely bank payments


• Compute taxes and prepare tax returns i.e., VAT, PAYE, NSSF, NHIF etc.


• Manage balance sheets and profit/loss statements


• Report to management on the company’s financial health and liquidity


• Audit financial transactions and documents as well as support in external audits


• Reinforce financial data confidentiality and conduct database backups when necessary


• Manage stock and inventory ensuring no stock outs or overstocking of items


• Comply with financial policies and regulations

Skills & Qualifications

• BSc in Accounting or Finance


• CPA (K)


• 3 years of experience as an accountant


• Prior accounting experience in working in a restaurant or farm will be an added advantage


• Excellent knowledge of accounting regulations and procedures, including the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)


• Hands-on experience with accounting software like QuickBooks


• Advanced MS Excel skills


• Experience with general ledger functions


• Strong attention to detail and good analytical skills
