Job Vacancy: Technical Sales Intern


Agricycle closes the gap between smallholders in developing economies and global markets by democratizing access to the agricultural value chain through our distributed network and portfolio of upcycled ingredients.


Agricycle is a for-profit benefit corporation and startup, meaning we operate in a fast-moving environment to disrupt the status quo and create social, economic and environmental impact.


Overview


As our Technical Sales Intern, you will report to the Technical Sales Officer of the respective country in conjunction with the EA Technical Sales Coordinator.


Also working closely with a team of Field Officers in your country. You will organize Agricycle’s education, marketing, sales and distribution of appropriate technologies to our network of thousands of smallholders within your country..


You will also lead negotiations with large institutions to purchase Agricycle’s tools in your country.


Using your diligence and determined work ethic, you will enable Agricycle’s supply chain by ensuring wide usage of Agricycle’s dehydrators and other equipment it makes available to its members.


Responsibilities:



  • Organize Agricycle’s sales and distribution of appropriate technologies to smallholders.

  • Build relationships with institutional supporters of smallholders and lead negotiations for purchases.

  • Fully understand and advocate for expanded use of passive solar dehydrators to preserve food loss.

  • Organize equipment & farm input partnerships to distribute and broker through Agricycle’s network.

  • Train Field Officers and others to more effectively communicate Agricycle’s model to smallholders.

  • Assist Field Officers’ negotiations with smallholders when recruiting them to join Agricycle’s network.

  • Distribute marketing and sales materials that educate and encourage smallholders to join Agricycle.

  • Support smallholders in accessing microfinance loans to afford dehydrators and other equipment.

  • Manage relevant team members to track progress toward meeting distribution targets of tech/inputs.

  • Collaborate with the operation coordinator in Agricycle toward company goals.

  • Any other reasonable responsibility given by supervising team members.

Requirements:



  • Fresh graduate university degree or college diploma in sales and marketing, community development, agribusiness, business administration or other related fields.

  • Excellent communication skills (both written and oral) and ability to speak and write in English fluently.

  • Demonstrated compassion and empathy, strong work ethic and unimpeachable integrity.

  • Readiness and ability to regularly perform under pressure and within short timeframes.

  • Readiness to travel anywhere in East Africa under short notices and occasionally work odd hours.

  • Excellent working knowledge of computer applications, especially: gmail and spreadsheets.
