ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

·      Ensure that the working areas and workshops are kept clean at all times.

·      Ensure that all machines in operation conform to safety regulations as per Factories Act.

·      Ensure team uses protective equipment and clothing at all times.

·      Carries out preventive maintenance as scheduled and repair works as assigned by section supervisor.

·      Handles maintenance requests related to A/C & refrigeration equipment, Also carries out minor installations of the same.

·      Responsible for water analysis system and treatment of the central AC system

·      Shift manning as assigned.

·      Advise the Storekeeper on what items to order for the section.

·      Requests order for materials taken from the store.

·      Regular inspection in all machines, machine rooms and checks all the equipment against the checklist.

·      Works accurately and professionally to avert repeat jobs.

·      Adhere to preventive maintenance schedule to avoid major breakdowns.

·      Ensures all hazardous installations/ equipment are isolated, warning signs indicating e.g. Out of order, Do not operate are in place.

·      Ensuring that all machine rooms and workshops are clean and safe from naked electrical cables and other dangerous equipment.

SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY

The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.

• Considerable knowledge of HVAC systems including repair and maintenance and basic electric and plumbing skills.


• Knowledge of OSHA standards for chemical use.


• Skill in the use of hand and power tools (drills, hoisting equipment, reciprocating saw, and pressure washing equipment); dial indicators and testing equipment for air, water balancing and control calibration.


• Basic mechanical aptitude for operation and repair of equipment.
  

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS

EDUCATION

Minimum

• Govt. Trade Test 1 in A/C and Refrigeration.

• Must be conversant with the Occupations Safety and Health Act.
  

EXPERIENCE

• At least two years’ experience as an HVAC technician in a complex facility.
