Reports to: Technical lead – DREAMS


Country/Location: MOMBASA


Length of Contract: Two years


Able to clearly communicate in written and spoken English and kiswahili


80% of the time to Tujitegemee project sites


Supervisory: project officers


External: Representatives of the GOK, LIPs, other stakeholders, and the community


Job description








Ananda Marga Universal Relief Team (AMURT) is a voluntary charitable nongovernmental organization, registered in Kenya as a non-profit organization in 1993. AMURT has implemented over 22 projects countrywide and has supported and worked with local communities, local administration and organizations offering development services.  AMURT’s focus areas are emergency relief, OVC support, education, health care, income generation and capacity building, HIV/AIDS, MNCH, TB control, Nutrition, WASH and Non-Communicable Diseases (NCD) in 9 counties. AMURT is located in Central region, Nyanza region, Samburu County and Coastal region of Kenya.


AMURT recently won an award for KENYA HEALTH PARTNERSHIPS FOR QUALITY SERVICES (KHPQS)-OVC/DREAMS program, and seeks to recruit the following positions based in Mombasa and Kilifi Counties.


As a key member of the Tujitegemee Project, you will monitor and report on all DREAMS project activities focusing on comprehensive service delivery to targeted AGYW. Your thorough and service-oriented approach will ensure that the project consistently applies best practices and constantly works towards improving the impact of its benefits to those we serve. You will coordinate closely with other Tujitegemee Project Officers to contribute to a holistic, integrated, and comprehensive project implementation.





Responsibilities



  • Support the coordination, implementation, and monitoring of all assigned project activities as outlined in the detailed implementation plan, in line with Tujitegemee program quality principles and standards, donor requirements, and good practices.

  • Monitor and report any challenges and/or gaps identified to inform adjustments to plans and implementation schedules.

  • Assist local implementing partners (LIPs) in their efforts to reflect on project experiences.

  • Support accountability through coordinating project evaluation activities and assisting LIPs in their efforts to collect and analyze project data per specified mechanisms and tools. Collaborate with LIPs to prepare reports per established reporting schedule.

  • Collect information on technical assistance needs of LIPs. Provide technical support and monitor capacity building and technical support activities to ensure effective impact.

  • Complete project documentation for assigned activities, assist with identifying information for case studies and reports on promising practices and actively engage in dissemination and use of relevant knowledge in the field.

  • Represent Tujitegemee project in meetings at county and Sub-County levels, working groups, and other events as requested, to support forging relations with the GOK, LIPs, other stakeholders, and the community.

  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of all assigned project activities per donor and Tujitegemee standards and established schedules.





Qualifications:



  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Health (with a focus on HIV/AIDS), Social Sciences or related – field

  • At least 5 years of experience in social and structural HIV prevention, DREAMS programming and service delivery in Kenya, including addressing social and structural change as well as combination prevention approaches.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of the health context and structural issues in Kenya including socioeconomic, institutional and policy issues that are related to essential services in HIV prevention, and adolescent health.

  • Demonstrated leadership and technical skills in HIV prevention with key target groups in Kenya, applying new prevention technologies, and utilizing effective health promotion approaches.

  • Demonstrated technical skills in HIV prevention related Youth Livelihoods programming, including employability and entrepreneurship programming with priority populations, including adolescents and young women.

  • Demonstrated experience in the design and use of training curricula.

  • Demonstrated experience in cultivating and sustaining working relationships with local partners and government.

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in SBCC activity design and implementation.

  • Strong written and oral communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Fluent in English and Kiswahili strongly preferred

  • Strong communication, relationship management skills with ability to influence and get buy-in from people not under direct supervision and to work with individuals in diverse geographical and cultural settings

  • Good strategic, analytical, problem-solving and systems thinking skills with capacity to see the big picture and ability to make sound judgment

  • Good technical writing skills

  • Presentation, facilitation, training, mentoring, and coaching skills

  • Proactive, resourceful and results-oriented
