DECLARATION OF VACANCIES 

DEPARTMENT OF WATER, ENVIRONMENT AND NATURAL RESOURCES

2.ASSISTANT DIRECTOR WATER JG “P” (1 POST)

Duties and Responsibilities: This Officer will report to Director, Water Services. Specific duties will entail: –
• Develop and implement policies, goals and objectives;
• Prepare and monitor budgets and work plans for the section;
• Supervise the development of water infrastructure development and resource mobilization plans;
• Implement Departmental performance management systems;
• Manage portfolio of Projects through project teams/resources and ensuring optimal client/stakeholder relationship;
• Develop and maintain strategic alliances with key stakeholder groups, to include investors, customer groups and regulatory authorities;
• Supervise research for the Department of water, including management of related information and data;
• Undertake control quality control during construction of water supply infrastructure
• Development and maintenance of County water and sewerage infrastructure;
• Mobilization of resources for development of water and sewerage infrastructure in the County; and
• Any other duties which may be assigned from time to time

Requirements for Appointment For appointment to this grade, an officer must:
• Be a Kenyan citizen;
• Have served in the grade of Principal superintendent, (Water and Sewerage) Job Group CPSB 06 (‘N’) for a minimum period of three (3) years;
• Have a Masters’ degree in in Civil Engineering, Water Resources, Hydrology or its equivalent qualification from a university recognized in Kenya;
• Have a Bachelor’s degree in in Civil Engineering, Water Resources, Hydrology or its equivalent qualification from a university recognized in Kenya;
• Have a senior management course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution;
• Be registered with a relevant professional body;
• Demonstrate understanding of and commitment to the values and principles outlined in Articles 10 and 232 of the Constitution; and
• Demonstrated merit and shown ability as reflected in work performance in results

Terms of Service:
• 3 years Contract renewable subject to performance.
• Salary as prescribed by SRC.
