Job Title: Bartender

Reporting to: Branch Manager

Industry: Hospitality Industry.

Location: Kilimambogo, Thika.

Job Purpose: As a bartender you will be tasked with providing excellent guest drinking experiences and creating classic and innovative drinks exceeding customers’ needs and expectations.

You will be tasked with serving classical cocktails and exciting new beverages to our customers recommending menu items, and preparing and serving beverages.

Client Description: Our client is a high end, 4-star hotel situated 24k kilometers from Thika town. It is a warm, inviting and unique atmosphere that makes it an ideal place for family getaways, groups of interest and corporations alike.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Welcoming customers, reading and listening to people to determine beverage preferences, making recommendations, and taking drink orders.


• Planning drink menus and informing customers about new beverages and specials.


• Selecting and mixing ingredients, garnishing glasses, and serving beverages to customers.


• Checking identification to ensure customers are the legal age to purchase alcohol.


• Taking inventory and ordering supplies to ensure the bar and tables are well-stocked.


• Adhering to all food safety and quality regulations.


• Handling cash, credit, and debit card transactions, ensuring charges are accurate and returning correct change to patrons, balancing the cash register.


• Maintaining a clean work and dining area by removing trash, cleaning tables, and washing glasses, utensils, and equipment.


• Developing and preparing cocktail recipes.


• Ensure compliance with safety and sanitation policies in all areas

Required Qualifications

• Diploma or Degree in Hospitality /accommodation or hotel management.


• Hospitality experience of at least 2 years in a busy environment.


• Previous experience as a Bartender

Competencies & Interpersonal Skills

• MUST have experience in preparing various cocktails


• Excellent customer service skills


• Good communication and listening skills.


• Good interpersonal skills


• Ability to work well and remain calm under pressure.


• High standards of personal hygiene and personal grooming.


• Ability to multitask.


• Ability to understand complex situations and provide relevant and timely resolutions.


• Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
