Job Description
We are currently recruiting a Transport and Logistics Manager for one of our client in the bread industry.
Responsibilities
- Planning routes and load scheduling for multi-drop deliveries.
- Allocating and recording resources and movements on the transport planning system.
- Communicating effectively with clients and responding to their requirements.
- Directing all transportation activities.
- Developing transportation relationships.
- Monitoring transport costs.
- Negotiating and bargaining transportation prices.
- Dealing with the effects of congestion.
- Ensure regular review & evaluation of services provided by thirds parties, adherence to the standards.
- Ensure vehicles are regularly inspected and maintained
- Ensure compliance with relevant statutory legislation
Qualifications and Skills
- Diploma/ degree in Mechanical Engineering, Logistics Management or equivalent subject.
- At least five (5) years’ work experience with two (2) years at first level management.
- At least 2 years of practice in Fleet management
- Ability to appraise and use IT packages and electronic communication methods.
- An analytic mind and good numeracy skills.
- Excellent geographical knowledge.
- Good people management and coordination skills.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
- Extensive knowledge of the transportation industry.
- Good intuition to make crucial judgment calls.
