Role Summary
Our client is hiring a Director of Marketing to join the leadership team. The ideal candidate will be a dynamic, hands-on leader who is equally comfortable executing on tactical growth plans and setting strategy for the company’s marketing initiatives over the next several years. At the organization, Marketing collaborates closely with the Sales, Customer Experience, and Product teams to ensure a seamless journey for customers to scale their businesses using the company. The Director of Marketing will build on an existing foundation to grow the Marketing team, refine our brand, and oversee demand generation and lead generation.

Location: Nairobi, Kenya
Reports to: Chief Commercial Officer.  

Responsibilities
•    Oversee the creation of marketing collateral and assets to support company sales initiatives and to bolster company status as a market leader.
•    Drive awareness and interest in company products/services and increase marketing qualified leads through innovative digital and non-digital strategies.
•    Develop initiatives to communicate product value to new and existing customers, drive new feature adoption, and effectively launch new products and services.
•    Clearly articulate company brand. Build the tools, techniques, and train internal team members to communicate company brand to various audiences across various channels.
•    Utilize various internal and external data sources to refine marketing and sales strategies.
•    Drive local marketing execution to achieve agreed success metrics.
•    Build a high-performing marketing team and effectively leverage sub team resources, through effective team creation/oversight and resource management.
•    Lead by example, and put company needs above individual or sub team priorities.

Qualifications
•    Bachelor’s degree; higher degree or related certifications a plus.
•    10+ years senior progressive leadership experience in Marketing
•    Prior experience in B2B SaaS marketing preferred
•    Relevant exposure in the Software/ Fintech Industry
•    Comfortable operating in an international business setting; familiar with business norms and marketing to business across Sub-Saharan Africa.
•    A self-starter and comfortable with building systems and processes from scratch. Thrives in a “lean start-up” style environment of experimentation, learning, and execution.
•    Enthusiastic and creative leader with the ability to inspire others.
•    Experience being goal-oriented and comfortable measuring your team’s success by quantitative performance.
•    Analytical and process-oriented mindset.
•    Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
•    Exemplify company key values: impact-driven, empathetic, courageous, trustworthy, curious, and collaborative.
