Regional Advocacy Coordinator, East Africa and Great Lakes


The DRC office in Nairobi is a Regional Office providing support and guidance of DRC programs in Kenya, Somalia, Ethiopia, Djibouti, Uganda, Tanzania, South Sudan, DR Congo and Burundi.


The Advocacy Coordinator is responsible for identifying advocacy issues, preparing and implementing advocacy plans, documentation and communicating lessons and good practices from implementing programs to various users, and raising DRC profile with stakeholders in the EAGL region.


The Advocacy Coordinator will work to advance DRC displacement related policies and positions through policy influence, research, capacity building, and development of joint advocacy and campaign initiatives related to forced displacement with relevant stakeholders.


Requirements: –


He / She should have At least 5 years of experience in undertaking advocacy, media and communication initiatives in humanitarian and development contexts.


He / She should have Proven track record of policy influencing with partners, government and civil societies / key stakeholders.


He/ She should have a Degree in Social Sciences, Political Science, Communications, Journalism or equivalent.


A Masters degree in communication and media, international relations, political science, or other similar and relevant areas will be beneficial.


He / She should have Excellent written and verbal communications skills (both English and French) and an ability to produce good quality documents, information for a variety of audiences and communicate good practices.


He / She should have Experience in policy and practice analysis and implementing strategic advocacy initiatives aimed at bringing changes in these areas.
