Job Title: Electrical and Instrumentation Engineer

Reports to: Construction Manager or Project Manager

Industry: Agriculture Hub-Under Oil and Gas

Role Seniority: Senior – Responsible for developing, safeguarding (within the Group) and disseminating (to colleagues) key technical/professional knowledge.

Overall Purpose of the Job: To review and approve the specification, design and supply (by contractors) of electrical / instrumentation equipment and systems in industrial facilities, ensuring that it meets project objectives, industry standards and best practice for safety, reliability and cost.

Location

• Based in Nairobi offices or in construction sites within Kenya, as required


• Availability for travels within Kenya


• Availability for temporary move to construction sites within Kenya

Main Responsibilities

• Power systems overall design integrity and compliance with international standards, company guidelines and engineering best practices


• Electrical overall design integrity and compliance with international standards, company guidelines and engineering best practices.


• Selection of the best technical/economical solutions and products for power systems.

Key Activities

• Reviewing and approving Electrical, Instrumentation and automation and control systems design documents


• Providing technical evaluation of Electrical, Instrumentation and automation and control systems.


• Providing power systems execution technical follow-up.


• Technical support to commissioning and production start-up.


• Supervise installation of electrical, instrumentation and automation systems


• Selection of the best technical/economical solutions for production facility.


• Supervising and directing Engineering Detail Contractors during the design, procurement and construction activities, ensuring the quality of the works according to the contract requirements.


• Providing technical input, in line with project requirements, into technical studies and Basis of Design.


• Ensuring a smooth and effective transfer of data and information between Contractors and between Contractors and the Company.


• Defining Electrical, Instrumentation and automation requirements.


• Optimizing installation and construction activities / sequences, minimizing cost and safety risks.


• Acting as a technical authority on Electrical, Instrumentation and automation issues for the Project, for example, reply to formal Deviation/Concession Requests issued by contractors and where necessary act as coordinator in resolution of technical issues.


• Participation to technical integrity activities and reviews/audits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical engineering or equivalent


• At least 5 years of experience in Electrical and Instrumentation Engineering


• Preferred construction supervision experience (Electrical and Instrumentation)
