Job Description/Requirements

The User Experience (UX) Engineer works with the internal stakeholders to design and optimize a range of products for internal and external clients. Will work on the entire design process, including designing, prototyping, user testing and developing intuitive and attractive user experiences for our custom web applications. Will learn what users expect from products, develop effective solutions, and find new areas for improvement within the product; will collaborate to identify design goals and requirements, including implementation, content, and branding.

Essential Functions
•    Create the UX artifacts needed to articulate a design that aligns business goals with customer/user goals, including sketches, user flows, wireframes, high-fidelity visual design mock-ups or interactive prototypes. Ensure the fidelity of the artifacts align with the development stage of the project.
•    Collaborate with key stakeholders to shape, design and build solutions for problems that create intuitive and delightful digital experiences for customers/users across mediums, including desktop, mobile and tablet devices.
•    Gather and evaluate user & business requirements in collaboration with product owners and engineers and turn them into initial sketches & wireframes
•    Create design rationale and including, but not limited to redlines, acceptance criteria and user flows; work with product owners to contribute to user stories.
•    Understand project specifications and user psychology and use these as core pillars in product design
•    Design prototypes and assets for web application projects that clearly illustrate the functional requirements
•    Identify and troubleshoot UX problems (e.g. responsiveness, user behavior modification, etc)
•    Build front end of web applications from prototypes/visual designs
•    Assist back-end developers to implement designs into production
•    Maintain and add to centralized bootstrap repository of user interface (UI) assets
 
Additional Functions
•    Monitor customer behavior and conduct external research, as necessary, to identify opportunities to improve the digital experience for customers.
•    Stay up to date with current UX and front-end development best practices and technologies
•    Learn new and emerging skills and/or technologies as projects require
•    Recruit, coordinate, and schedule customers/users for UX research studies

Job Specifications
•    Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in software design
•    2+ years’ experience as a UX Designer, UX Engineer or similar role
•    Ability to understand and apply user psychology and use UX best practices to build intuitive web applications
•    Strong attention to detail, interpersonal, communication, and time-management skills
•    Ability to work autonomously and with a team in a modified Agile/Scrum development process
•    Proficient in UI/UX wireframe/prototyping tools and converting designs to HTML/CSS/JS
•    A strong portfolio which demonstrates work across a range of clients or product-types.
•    Strong practical knowledge of user-centered design methodologies, usability principles, web-based information architecture and design
•    Experience monitoring and measuring UI/UX experiences
•    Solid understanding and a drive to stay up-to date on the latest design and usability trends and techniques
•    Ability to create an inclusive workplace where everyone feels a sense of belonging by empowering all our employees to speak up, ask questions, and be seen
 
Other Requirements

•    Complete continuing education based upon current certifications
