Full-time employment opportunity available on a 6-month contract.

Salary: In the range of KSh 12,000 – KSh 18,000 per month, subject to skills, experience and performance of responsibilities.  Accommodation will be provided. 

Location: A small commercial holding approx. 25km from Kisumu city centre.

The role requires a hardworking and reliable person(s) with at least 2 years hands on experience looking after dairy animals and other livestock and possessing the right educational background (minimum Diploma from a well-known agricultural college e.g. Bukura, Kabianga etc). 

You should be ready to live in a remote farm area. 

Minimum Requirements:

To be considered for this role, you MUST have/demonstrate the following: 

·         Minimum 2 years hands on experience looking after dairy cattle

·         Completed a secondary school/ KCSE certificate

·         Possess a minimum Diploma in Agriculture

·         Hold a valid National Identification card

·         Experience with operating basic farm machinery

·         Basic carpentry/ handy-man skills

·         Ability to work independently and use initiative

·         Previous experience planting animal feeds/ seasonal commercial crops

·         Employer references and a valid police certificate of good conduct

·         Must have good communication skills in both Kiswahili and English

·         Be a Kenyan youth agreed between 25 - 40 years in age

Experience Expectations:

·         Work experience of at least 2 years working in a commercial farm

·         Practical training in agriculture, particularly given national drought challenges

Duties and Responsibilities:

Depending on the role taken and duties allocated, your duties will include: 

·         Attending to, feeding, milking cows and looking after various animals

·         Assisting with veterinary care, vaccination, cleanliness and related tasks

·         Attending to livestock activity on farm grounds, maintenance and fencing

·         Undertaking planting of feeds and seasonal crops and harvesting produce

·         Assisting other/ casual staff within the farm, including training the same

·         Issuing and controlling farm inputs, chemicals, medicine etc as instructed

·         Maintaining basic farm records and operating machinery

·         Ensure proper storage, service and repair of farm machinery, tools, and other implements and reporting faults and breakdowns for appropriate action.

·         Ensuring watering and irrigation of feeds and plants

·         Ensuring safety and maintaining a high standard of hygiene

·         Assisting and ensuring security of animals, equipment and farm premises

·         Assisting with other responsibilities/ farm activities as requested from time to time
