Job Description

Sheer Logic Management Consultants is seeking to engage dynamic individuals for Fiber Optics Technician position for one of our clients.

Network curative Task

• Ensure all the (Media) fibre related faults are resolved within the time lines as per the SLA through fusion and blowing as necessary in the field.


• Maintain fibre resource and asset inventory and field splicing records for reference during curatives to save on SLA.


• Work with FOE and Contractor to restore the network failure as may be both passive and active related failure


• Manages fault through scaled up analytical skills with the aim to sort fibre failure in sovereignty levels and timely escalations of after 2hrs into the fault


• Serve as a resource to the internal staff on matters concerning splicing practices and procedures

Preventive Maintenance

• Perform preventive on Fibre plant, OSP and transmission links within the stipulated regional budgets so as to achieve the uptime target of (99.9%) at all times.


• Discourage, eliminate or reduce risk of fraudulent activities involving company property by staff and/or contractor


• Send accurate weekly report to the TL


• Audit the OSP (Manholes and compromised closures) that are compromised to mitigate link degradations and cores drops.

Acceptance of New links

• Involve in the new metro fiber links acceptance and commissioning for O&M within the Operation standards


• Ensure that newly provisioned links are meeting link budgets and as per the design


• Manage Civil team/contractors towards achieving 4 hrs MTTR

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS – State the minimum additional knowledge and skills required for this job to be carried out at a minimum level of competence (for example: In-depth understanding of financial accounting disciplines).

• Very strong Communication Skills and the ability to express complex technical concepts effectively, both verbally and in writing.


• Ability to conduct research into application issues and products.


• Highly self-motivated and directed.

REQUIRED SYSTEMS KNOWLEDGE

• Experience installing electrical equipment,


• Some understanding of SDH, DWDM.


• Familiar with OTDR & Splicer kits

POST SCHOOL QUALIFICATIONS

• Degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications or its equivalent.


• Membership of a recognized Professional Institution e.g. Microsoft, and CFOT

EXPERIENCE – State the minimum length and type of relevant experience required for this job to be carried out at a minimum level of competence (for example: three years’ experience in the design and maintenance of certain equipment may be required for a technical position).

• At least 2 years working experience in Telecoms, fibre environment.


• Of 6 months to 1 years internship or working in a telecoms environment


• Possess strong clean and valid driving licence.
