Job Description
Vacant Position: Financial Controller
Location: Nairobi
Our client is the leading independent global automotive distributor, acting as a brand custodian for major automotive OEM’s in 31 countries.
They are looking to recruit for the position of a Financial Controller reporting to the Finance Manager who will oversee the entire accounting Function Including General ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable and cost accounting.
Job Purpose: The Financial Controller will oversee the entire accounting function including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable and cost accounting.
He/she will be tasked with preparing, maintaining analysing, verifying and reconciling, financial transactions, statements, records and reports.
The role will be responsible for the implementation of internal controls as well as international accounting and reporting standards
Key Result Areas (KRA’s):
- Maintain the general ledger in accordance with the IFRS for all transactions.
- Direct and supervise costing transactions.
- Responsible for the management of accounts payables and accounts receivables.
- Review, verify and approve all payment vouchers and journal entries.
- Payroll management and review.
- Ensure optimal and smooth operation of the Company’s accounting systems by continuously reviewing their operation and recommending additional functionalities.
- Take charge of the month-end/year closing process.
- Lead the annual budgeting process and quarterly forecasts.
- Compile and analyse financial statements and reports with full commentary on variances against the budget
- Plan and prepare for the annual statutory audit and management reports within specified schedules.
- Assist in enhancing understanding of internal controls by partnering with all departments across the Company.
- Supervise monthly compliance audits and ensure compliance is achieved in every process of the business
Qualifications & Qualities
- Bachelor’s degree in Commerce/Business/Finance/Economics
- Accounting qualification; CPA, ACCA/CIMA
- At least six years’ relevant experience in financial accounting/audit, two of which must be in supervisory role.
- Well-developed analytical and control process abilities
- Exposure to and participation in financial decision making
- Sound overall business/commercial knowledge with ability to translate numbers into a business story.
- Strong stakeholder management and ability to communicate with all levels of the business
- Excellent communication and leadership skills with proven ability to manage and develop other finance professionals.
- Solid internal controls knowledge and experience
- In-depth understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards, (IFRS)
- Advanced Ms excel skills
- The ability to work as part of a team
- Audit experience is an added advantage.
