JOB TITLE: Assistant Concrete Lab Technician

INDUSTRY: Concrete Design and Production

REPORTING TO: Lab Engineer

GROSS SALARY: KES. 50,000

CLIENT:

A leading ready – mix concrete solutions providers with a reputation of providing high-quality ready-mix concrete for Commercial, Industrial and Residential construction.

JOB FUNCTION:

The Assistant Laboratory Technician is expected to be knowledgeable in construction materials testing and be responsible for project planning, research, testing and report writing. The ALT must be able to organize and analyze data, and present it in a meaningful way. The ALT is also expected to act as a technical resource for the company.

It is vital that the ALT be proactive and display initiative in their work. This person should be able to participate directly in the tasks and activities of the laboratory.

Roles & Responsibilities of Assistant Concrete Lab Technician Job

• Undertaking product trials and demonstrations – both on site and off site.


• Active involvement in Product/Materials development


• Test concrete and cement-based products including: sample preparation, testing and analysis.


• Carry out a range of concrete, cement and aggregates laboratory tests


• Carry out materials sampling and sample management


• Keep accurate and legible records of all works undertaken


• Works to published technical specifications and standards


• Identify and manage risk in all work activities


• Manage and maintain company equipment


• Basic equipment calibration when required


• Remain current on industry trends and competitors.

Qualifications of Assistant Concrete Lab Technician Job

• Must have a Diploma/Degree in Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, Materials Science, or related field.


• Must have at least 3 years as a lab or materials engineer, researcher in an industry involving concrete or cementitious products, or a related field such as industrial, construction or materials production.


• Must have prior experience in Concrete Design and Production.


• Demonstrated hands-on lab skills in Concrete Design and Production.


• Physical ability to batch and test concrete.


• Demonstrated initiative and proactive behavior


• Good written and oral communication


• Office computer software experience


• Knowledge of concrete Product Line and/or the construction industry is a MUST.
