Requirements for Appointment

• Must have a certificate in nursing from a recognized institution


• Must be registered with nursing council


• Must have a valid practice license


• Computer literate.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Facilitating patients admission and initiating discharge plans


• Read patient reports and take note of critical cases, do chart rounds and ensure treatment has been given


• Assist with manual handling and transferring of patients in compliance with the hospital policy


• Undertake the last rights for deceased patients and give relevant information to relatives/carers


• Contribute to the promotion of health and prevention of illness, teaching patients and their relatives where appropriate


• Assist the Ward In-Charge in promoting the right of patients/clients and maintaining the privacy and dignity of clients/patients and staff


• Undertake assessment, planning and implementation of interventions for addressing patient care problems


• Evaluate patient responses to interventions and notify Ward In Charge accordingly


• Providing appropriate health care services including IMCI,immunizations and reproductive health and other health related programs


• Providing health education /counseling to patients/clients on community


• Conduct Defaulter tracing and follow up


• Referring patients and clients appropriately


• Ensure availability and safety of medical supplies in pharm and non pharm.


• Maintain proper record medical equipments


• Undertake assessment, planning and implementation of interventions for addressing patient care problems


• Evaluate patient responses to interventions and notify Ward In Charge accordingly


• Any other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor
