Job Description/Requirements


Hand in Hand Eastern Africa (HiH EA) is a registered NGO in Kenya and Tanzania and is part of the Hand in Hand global network. The organization started operations in Kenya in October 2010 and is currently operating in 22 Field offices within 27 out of 47 Counties in Kenya. HiH EA has so far mobilized, trained and is training over 300,000 members (80% women, 40% youth) who have created over 296,000 enterprises (30% eco-enterprises) and over 400,000 jobs on the Kenyan Programme.
The organization works with marginalized communities in the areas of economic and social empowerment using a participatory approach aimed at helping people fight poverty and vulnerability. The Hand in Hand enterprise and job creation approach is based on a philosophy of self-help, providing training, skills and support to enable people living in poverty, particularly women, to build and sustain independent, market-based, economic activities. This provides for a higher level of income for them and their families, which in turn contributes to greater food security, better education for children, increased access to healthcare, improved housing and overall improved livelihoods.

SUMMARY ICT OFFICER JOB DESCRIPTION AND SPECIFICATIONS. REF.NO: HEA ICTO-01/2021 (1) POST

The position provides technical support on the day-to-day running of the organization’s ICT systems and networks including routine maintenance and upgrades.

Duties and Responsibilities
•    Manage the overall technology infrastructure for the Organization including planning, implementation, and management of the software applications, backups and hardware infrastructure that support operations, liaising as relevant with technology service providers.
•    Propose design improvements to the Organization’s ICT architecture and work with the systems developer to integrate requirements into the ICT strategic framework.
•    Support and contribute to IT-related tasks or projects through the implementation of appropriate technologies and solutions.
•    Act as the principal administrator and ensure the maintenance of the Organization’s systems, including: general computer support; software installations; license management; server set up and management; database administration; network, printers, audio/video conferencing and mobile phone support; deployment of equipment; management of inventories; disaster recovery; and periodic security vulnerability assessments.
•     Manage support services for the Organization’s IT systems, platforms, and products; including management of outsourced services.
•    Support the procurement process for IT equipment and services.
•    Provide user training on common business applications and use of systems.
•    Develop and update IT processes and procedures, and ensure they are properly documented.
•    Undertake such other duties as may be requested by the Head of ICT to support delivery of the ICT strategy and the Organization’s strategic plan.
•    Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Supervisor from time to time.

Job Specifications
•    Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or any other equivalent discipline.
•    2 years’ relevant work experience in a similar position in a busy organization.
•    Certification in Implementation of application development environments like PHP, NET framework, Java; SQL, SharePoint will be an added advantage.
•    Expertise in Power BI and Dynamics 365 Reporting.
•    Strong computer skills including knowledge in management of hardware, software, networks, applications, compliance etc.
•    Knowledge in Microsoft Business Central 365, office 365 including SharePoint and MS SQL
•    A detailed understanding of enterprise business processes that support workflow and business intelligence – support to finance, experience in standard or customized financial reports in Navision, understanding the general ledger and the chart of accounts set up as per financial transaction guidelines, human resources (HR) management processes, procurement and inventory management etc.
•    Innovative and dedication to details with very strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem solving skills.
•    Strong communication skills, fluent in oral and written English and Kiswahili, with good report writing skills.
●    Detail oriented and conscientious with ability to adhere to established timelines.
●    Flexible, resilient, and self-controlled and able to multi-task.
●    Good interpersonal, negotiation, mediation, and networking skills with strong intercultural orientation.
●    Demonstrates self-drive, high degree of commitment, enthusiasm, good team skills and ability to work with minimal supervision.
●    Good planning and organizational skills and ability to work under minimal supervision.
