Position: Captain – Indian Cuisine Restaurant

Location: Nairobi – Kenya

Our Client, a first theme and the finest modern Indian restaurant in Kenya is urgently looking to hire talented, dynamic and energetic Restaurant Captain with a passion for delivering outstanding service to assist in the daily operations of the Restaurant.

He/she will be responsible for providing customers with fast and friendly service in foodservice to maintain the restaurant’s energy and help in our Client’s mission of providing each customer with excellent customer service and other matters by performing the following duties;

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Establish rapport with guests to build guest loyalty and gather constructive feedback to ensure satisfaction of every individual guest


• Handle daily team member relations, and encourage problem solving by team members through proper training and empowerment


• Ensure that the restaurant’s brand standards and SOP’s are consistently implemented


• Work with fellow staffs and manager to ensure that the restaurant achieves its full potential


• Assists with menu planning, assists servers and hosts on the floor during peak meal periods


• Review order dockets ensuring accurate and timely preparations for order requirements accordingly


• Communicate with the kitchen regarding any menu questions, the length of wait and product availability


• Communicate additional meal requirements, allergies, dietary needs, and special requests to the kitchen


• Perform shift closing on the Point of sales terminal and tally cash and credit card settlements


• Ensure that the restaurant is always kept clean and organized, both at the front as well as the back of house areas


• Perform any reasonable duties as required from time to time in order to contribute to the achievement of business

Key Competencies & Qualifications:

• Diploma/Degree in Hotel Management or any other related field from a recognized institution


• At least 2 years of experience in a similar role in a busy high-end establishment or proficiency in a similar task


• Be a motivated self-starter with the ability to supervise other members of the team


• Experienced in restaurant POS software/system


• Familiarity with menu costing procedures


• Good knowledge of food and beverage service


• Incredible customer service skills & the ability to help maintain a customer focused culture


• Ability to work a flexible schedule of nights, days, weekends, and holidays


• Ambitious and driven by over exceeding customer expectations


• Enjoy new challenges
