Job Summary


We are looking for a legal manager to manage the legal affairs of Equity Bank (Kenya) Limited. You will be expected to provide legal advice, guide legal strategy and limit risk exposure. You will also be expected to work closely with other members of the organisation to provide legal and strategic guidance.



  • Minimum Qualification: Bachelor

  • Experience Level: Senior level

  • Experience Length: 8 years

Duties and responsibilities:



  • Managing, drafting, negotiating, reviewing and closing various legal contracts including overseeing securities and standard business contracts

  • Preparing legal opinions and providing strategic advice to the business

  • Managing the organisations legal matters

  • Keeping abreast of new and existing laws and trends relevant to the organisations operations

  • Keeping a record of all legal documents for the company

  • Collaborating with group legal teams

  • Communicating with external parties (regulators, external counsel, clients, stakeholders etc)

  • Anticipating issues and evaluating risks and opportunities to the organisation considering the evolving regulatory and commercial environment

  • Identifying and executing proactive solutions

  • Preserving and maintaining accurate and systemised legal records

  • Managing the organisation's intellectual property including executing patent, trademark, and industrial design protection procedures

  • Performing miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned


Qualifications



  • 8+ years of legal experience

  • Qualified as an Advocate in Kenya

  • Masters’ degree in any discipline (preferable)
