Responsibilities


Operational Responsibility



  • Obtaining information required on case files and communicating to the Senior Legal Officer.

  • reading and verifying documentation vis-à-vis historical information contained in individual case files;

  • identifying legal and compliance risks

  • Coordinating handling of cases filed against the Commission between the departments and external counsel; and attending court hearings.

  • Enter appearance and prepare pleadings on behalf of the Commission and render legal opinions to Commission Committees as requested;

  • Prepare, review and interpret legal instruments the Commission is party to.

  • Follow up with the courts to fix and take hearing dates for court matters;

  • Follow up with the courts to collect court rulings and judgments;

  • File and serve pleadings on relevant parties and receive and file legal correspondences and bring to the attention of Senior Legal Officers for action;

  • Prepare Affidavits of Service;


Qualifications



  • Bachelor of Law degree from a recognized institution;

  • Have a postgraduate Diploma in Legal Studies from the Council of Legal Education;

  • Be proficient in computer applications.

  • Be admitted as an Advocate of the High Court;

  • Member of a Recognized professional body

  • one(1) year of service in a comparable position from a reputable organization

  • Meet the requirements of chapter six of the Constitution of Kenya.
