Job Summary
Our client is an agribusiness firm based in Uganda. They are looking to hire a Logistics and Procurement Manager who will develop the trading organization, buying local fruits & vegetables to export to international markets

Job Description
- To identify and create a reliable supplier database of potential farmers and agents
- Interview potential suppliers prior to contract negotiations, including visiting farms and distribution centers and discussing quality standards with vendors
- To be the main point of contact with traders/farmers/agents for sourcing produce
- To nurture relationships with suppliers to negotiate the best prices for the company
- To ensure compliance with contractual regulations and working with agents/traders/farmers as necessary to resolve any discrepancies
- To do necessary audits/visits to ensure the quality of produce from suppliers
- Organize and schedule procurements in a timely manner
- To liaise with agents to book flights and all necessary steps to export the goods within the agreed deadline
- Oversee fulfillment of supply contracts by verifying quantity and quality of incoming produce shipments to the pack house
- Develop and implement strategies for procuring, storing, and distributing goods or services and maintaining stock levels
- Prepare requisitions, purchase orders, packing lists, invoices and any other necessary documentation for the purchase and export of the produce from Uganda
- Receive, track and record all orders sent
- Maintain all documentation in good order
- Develop knowledge of current vendors, industry trends and relevant pricing by local market research, online research and reading professional publications
- Manage all procurement and logistics costs to a minimum
- Recommend new processes or systems for improvement; implement new ideas and strategies
- Communicate effectively with agents, farmers, clients, customers, team members, and managers to align goals
- Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Economics, Finance, Operations, or a related area from a reputable institution.
- At least 4 years of proven experience in a similar field
- Must have experience managing logistics from field to client (export). Having an accounting experience is a plus
- In-depth knowledge of sourcing and procurement principles and best practices
- Needs to be able to buy and work with out-growers/agents/traders
- Must have a good understanding of quality, fruits, and vegetables
- Must be proactive and work with minimal supervision
- Must have strong communication skills in English both written and oral
