Glacier Products Ltd is a private company specializing in Ice creams, food related products and chocolates confectionery manufacture operating from Nairobi, Kenya and serving the entire East Africa Region.

To support the implementation of our business strategies we are looking for a qualified and experienced individual to join our dynamic team in the position of a Maintenance Technician.

Job Summary

We seek to recruit a Maintenance Technician who will be based in Nairobi. The job holder will be reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor.

Key Responsibilities

• Executing Preventive Maintenance and Corrective Maintenance for All the machines and equipment for utilities
  including Effluent Treatment Plant.


• Maintaining proper hygiene practices as per company food safety programs.


• Diagnosing faults and ensuring timely repairs of factory machines and equipment with minimal or no downtime


• Training operators on machine and equipment handling


• Control, issue stock take tools and spares


• Ensure operators adhere to Machine SOPs and autonomous maintenance procedures


• Maintain up to date all records.


• Participate in OSHA to ensure staff safety


• Participate in Food Safety Management Systems and Quality Management Systems maintenance by adhering to set guidelines and maintenance procedures


• Ensure management of tools and machine spares to keep production area free of any extraneous matter as per Food Safety Management Systems standards


• Daily monitoring of All utility records


• Support planning of new projects and installations


• Aid in supervision of contractual work and ensure quality and adherence to food safety


• Ensure Safety before commencement of contractual works


• Operate, monitor and control All utility functions, steam ,water, diesel , power , Effluent Treatment Plant


• Operate and keep up to date stock of Effluent Treatment Plant chemicals


• Ensure All drainage systems are clear and All strainers in place


• Operation and Maintenance of utility systems

The Candidate Profile:

• Diploma in Engineering


• Minimum 2 years in a food industry


• Ability to understand and interpret Electrical and mechanical diagrams


• High level of understanding of basic Engineering principles


• Effective verbal and written communication skills


• Must be a team player


• Good understanding of occupational, safety and health procedures


• An understanding of Food safety procedures


• Computer literacy
