Program description:
This program is collaboration between Kenya Medical Research Institute and the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention whose remit is to conduct research in Malaria, HIV, Parasitology, TB and other diseases. Due to its continued growth, the collaboration would like to fill a vacancy in the following position for the ReSCOV Study within the DGHP branch

POSITION: Nurse (1 position) KMR 7
LOCATION: Kisumu
REPORTING TO: Study Coordinator

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Diploma in Community health nursing from a recognized institution.
• Registration with the relevant professional body.
• Excellent written/oral communication, interpersonal and organization skills
• Fluency in both written and spoken English and Swahili

Skills:
• Hard working, diligent and ready to work in a multidisciplinary environment
• Basic computer application skills

Job Summary: Reporting to the Study coordinator, the nurse will be responsible for screening, collection of specimen, enrolment and follow up of study participants. S/he must be flexible and work within the existing structure, in a professional and ethical manner with competence, accountability and integrity.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND SPECIFIC TASKS:
The Nurse will be expected to: -

• Provide basic triage and offer treatment to study participants.
• Collect specimen and perform malaria rapid diagnostic tests on study participants
• Maintain strict confidentiality and participants’ privacy.
• Maintains adequate amounts of required medical supplies.
• Ensure accurate data collection and recording of confidential clinical data.
• Maintain strict confidentiality and participants’ privacy.
• Develop in-depth understanding of the study design and goals for successful implementation and execution of the study
• Develop and reviews study SOPs
• Perform any other duties as assigned by the study management

Terms of Employment:
One (1) year contract as per KEMRI scheme of service. Probation period for the first three (3) months.
Remuneration: Compensation is negotiable within a relevant grade, based on education level, relevant experience and demonstrated competency. The salary scheme is based on the KEMRI guidelines.
