Job Vacancy: Kenya Medical Lab Coordinator

Job Location: Kakamega, Kenya

Job Description: We are seeking for a Medical Lab Technician who will increase our accuracy in calculating the impact of Nutrition and Health trials by 2021.The medical Lab technician will work closely with study enumerators in the field and identified laboratories within public health facilities.

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Support in nutrition assessment anthropometry


• Collect biochemical samples


• Conduct basic on-site diagnostics and basic biochemical assessments


• Transportation of specimen maintaining a cold chain


• Laboratory processing (centrifugation and aliquots of serum) labeling and storage of samples


• Manage the laboratory inventory


• Cold chain management and monitoring


• Safe disposal/ management of sharps objects and other wastes


• Any other duties assigned by your supervisor

Qualifications

Candidates who fit the following criteria are strongly encouraged to apply:

• Hold a Diploma or Degree in Medical Lab technology or Biochemistry with at least 1 year related working experience


• Registered with the Kenya Medical Lab Technicians and Technologists Board


• Ability to ride a motorbike with a valid License


• Cultural specific social awareness and ability to communicate effectively across cultural boundaries


• Detail oriented and ability to make independent decisions


• Basic organization skills: time management and prioritization


• Basic leadership skills: ability to lead other employees


• Excellent attitude and willingness to learn


• Ability to multi-task


• Basic computer skills


• Fluency in English, Swahili and Luhya.
