LEGAL OFFICER I, ODPC 6, ONE (1) POST – V/NO. 17/2022

 An officer at this level will be deployed to Legal Unit. The officer will implement legal and governance compliance reviews, representing the Office of the Data Commissioner in court and ensuring compliance and renewals of all the licenses, contracts, agreements and permits of the Office.

The officer will be responsible to the Principal Legal Officer.

Terms and Conditions of Services

• Basic salary 74,383 – 134,289 PM


• House Allowance 28,000 PM


• Commuter Allowance 6,000 PM


• Leave Allowance 15,000 PA


• Annual Leave 30 working days per Financial Year


• Medical Cover and other allowances As provided by the ODPC


• Terms of Service Permanent and pensionable

Qualifications

For appointment to this grade, an officer must have:-

• A Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) degree from a recognized and accredited institution;


• Admission to the Bar as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya;


• A Postgraduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law;


• Membership with the Law Society of Kenya of good standing;


• Proficiency in computer applications; and


• Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance

Responsibilities

Specific duties and responsibilities will entail:-

• Draft legal advice to the Office of Data Commissioner;


• Implement legal and governance compliance reviews;


• Representing the Office of the Data Commissioner in court;


• Ensuring compliance and renewals of all the licenses, contracts, agreements and permits of the Office;


• Interpreting legislation, regulations, rules and guidelines;


• Develop and implement legal policies and strategies;


• Initiate negotiations, arbitrations and court cases reviews;


• Initiate Preparation of Contracts and memorandum for the Office;


• Initiate drafting, reviewing, negotiating of contracts and agreements for the Office;


• Drafting legal correspondence;


• Perform any other duties as may be assigned by Senior Principal Legal Officer
