Job Title: Accountant – Orthopedic Clinic

Reporting to: Office Operations Manager

Industry: Medical (Orthopedic Clinic)

Location: Nairobi

Net Salary: KES. 45,000

Job Purpose: Ultimately, you will provide the company with accurate quantitative information on financial position, liquidity and cash flows of the business, while ensuring the business is compliant with all tax regulations.

Our client is a fast-growing Orthopedic Clinic located in Nairobi.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

• Process the receipt of cash, cheques and electronic/card payments from customers and prompt daily banking of cash and cheques collected.


• Using the black book (database for inpatients), write invoices as determined by the clinic management, for all inpatients prior to their discharge.


• Appraise management of the ageing summary


• Prepare payment schedule and cheque payments. Notify suppliers when cheques are ready and ensure timely dispatch/ collection of the same with email follow up.


• Post & reconcile petty cash to the petty cash ledger


• Proper filing and custody of documents


• Update all financial transactions in the Quickbooks system.


• Prepare profit and loss statements on monthly basis


• Ensure all statutory payments (VAT, WHT, PAYE & others) are made on due dates


• Ensure Fixed Asset Register is maintained.


• Prompt banking and timely preparation of business Bank Reconciliations.


• Follow up all the debtors and suppliers regularly to ensure payment is made on time


• Work out a weekly schedule with the Office Manager to ensure all matters pertaining to accounts are running seamlessly


• Any other accounting, administrative and office duties assigned from time to time.

Skills & Qualifications

• B. Com (Accounting/ Finance) or business-related degree


• CPA (K)


• 3 years of experience as an accountant


• Computerized Accounting packages


• Excellent knowledge of accounting regulations and procedures, including the)


• Hands-on experience with accounting software like QuickBooks


• Advanced MS Excel skills


• Integrity


• Attention to details


• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;


• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
