Job Description
The Council of Legal Education has been re-established under the Legal Education Act, No.27 of 2012 with the twin primary purposes of: Promoting legal education and training, and the maintenance of the highest possible standards in legal education providers; and the provision of a system to guarantee the quality of legal education and legal education providers.
Position title: Personal Assistant to The CEO
Grade CLE 5/4 CLE/JOB-040/2021
Description: The job holder provides administration, management, and Secretarial support to the office of the Secretary / CEO.
Responsibilities
The duties of the officer will entail:
a) Maintain the office diary and assisting in planning appointments;
b) Handle and prioritize all outgoing and incoming correspondence (email, letters, packages;
c) Handle confidential documents ensuring they remain secure;
d) Prepare management minutes and circulate;
e) Monitor office supplies to ensure the most cost-effective orders;
f) Maintain electronic paper records and ensuring information is organized and easily accessible;
g) Provide a work environment that is conducive to office visitors,
h) Facilitate work of the officer one is assigned to;
i) Type routine letters, memos and reports from drafts and manuscripts;
j) Process data; prepare and write responses to simple routine correspondence;
k) Operate office equipment and ensuring security of office equipment, documents and records;
l) File documents; receiving, recording and dispatching mail;
m) Handle telephone calls, diary and appointments;
n) Handle routine office duties;
o) Cross-referencing correspondence and
p) Arrange for meetings; and
q) Mentor and supervise junior secretarial staff
Qualifications
a) Bachelor’s Degree in Secretarial Studies / Bachelor of Business and Office Management / Social Sciences from a recognized institution;
b) Diploma/Higher Diploma in Secretarial Studies & Office Management from the Kenya National Examinations Council or equivalent qualifications from a recognized Institution;
c) Management Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks
d) Minimum of four (4) years relevant work experience;
e) Secretarial Management Course from a recognized institution;
f) Proficiency in Computer applications skills and
g) Fulfil the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution.

Appointment will be on permanent and pensionable terms
Salary Scale
- Basic Salary: 137,984 x 12,616 – 150,600 x 12,616 – 163,215 x 12,616 -175,831 x 12,616 – 188,446 x 12,616 -201,062 per month
- House Allowance: Kshs.35,000
- Commuter Allowance: Kshs.12,000
