Job Description

Our Client is seeking to hire an experienced Personal Chef with excellent communication skills and ability prepare meals for all age groups (from toddlers to adults).

S/he should be able to manage a busy family’s kitchen requirements, including all social functions hosted at their residence.

The successful candidate will reside with the family.

Position Title: Personal Chef

Reports to: Head of Family

Role Objective: Manage the family kitchen requirements from planning, procurement and preparation of all meals. This includes African and Continental dishes as desired.

Responsibilities

• Liaise with client to determine family members’ meal specifications, allergies and dietary needs


• Plan, budget and shop for high quality ingredients in the most cost-efficient manner


• Prepare high quality and customized meals based on dietary needs and avoid wastage


• Prepare different dishes including (African and Continental dishes)


• Able to maintain, observe proper hygiene practices, safety and health regulations at all times


• Develop and plan recipes in liaison with client, taking advantage of seasonal ingredients


• Able to handle any complaints and positive criticism and rectify


• Inform client of any supplies and equipment needs when required


• Clean and sanitize all the kitchen working areas before and after preparation


• Ensure all meals are well cooked, garnished and presented at all times


• Package and label meals well before storage

Qualifications / Education

• Certificate / Diploma in Food Production from an accredited institution


• Excellent knowledge in procurement, storage and handling of food


• An experienced family chef with the ability to operate kitchen equipment


• Computer literate

• Dedicated, organized, creative and time conscious individual


• Friendly and honest individual with the ability to handle positive criticism


• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal)


• Team player and problem solver with strong work ethics
