Poultry and Allied Limited is a poultry breeder based in Musanda, Kakamega county providing Improved Kienyeji chicks and farmer support services covering the Nyanza and Western region.

We are looking for a Poultry Breeder Operations Intern for our breeder farm in Musanda.

Qualification Level: Completed or currently studying any Agriculture based course with significant coursework in Animal/Poultry Rearing including Animal Sciences, Agricultural Extensionists, Animal Health & Veterinary Medicine.

Role Description: The successful candidate will be performing duties under the supervision of the Farm Operations Manager.

Responsibilities:

1. Support in farm operations including brooder management, feeding, cleaning, vaccination,  identification and management of sick birds, disposal of waste and dead birds etc.


2. Schedule and manage distribution operations for the farm as and when required


3. Maintain farm records daily including (feed consumption, injuries/mortalities, bird weight etc.) and prepare & present management reports every week and month.


4. Suggest and upon approval, implement continuous improvement suggestions in the breeder unit.


5. Develop and maintain a database of possible collaborators such as agricultural input suppliers etc.


6. Assist in developing well researched farmer training manuals including blogs, articles and books; supporting in physical training and answering farmers queries across the region as and when required.


7. Maintain purchase records and perform daily stock takes


8. Support in office administration including customer communication, filing, sourcing farm management software etc.


9. Support in other duties as may be required

1. You should have unquestionable ethics i.e. you want to do what is right even if it costs you.


2. You should be punctual and have high attention to detail


3. You should be highly organized and have a high level of cleanliness/hygiene


4. You should demonstrate good communication skills in speech and writing


5. You should be able to work from 8am-6pm for a period of 3 months.
