Job Vacancy: Power Engineer

Job Details: The Power Engineer is responsible for power systems performance monitoring, technical support and solutions around emerging power challenges, to aid our client to make informed investment decisions and ensure continued optimal performance of power systems.

He/she is responsible for performance data gathering and to ensure recommended power solutions are implemented and configured correctly to ensure business objectives are achieved.

Duties:

• Ensure that RMS meet the company objectives, through accurate data reporting and all RMS integrated peripherals


• Responsible for performance monitoring of power solutions to ensure proposed & implemented power solutions meets business case objectives


• Understand and ensure documentation of business cases made for power optimization initiatives


• Ensure that all hybrid sites are performing as per the business case; flag and investigate instances of performance deviation


• Identify, verify, and resolve all hybrid faults for resolution. Follow through to ensure that the faults are resolved as soon as possible


• Analyze daily, weekly & monthly performance of all power systems and make appropriate recommendations for optimization


• Coordinate with implementation teams to execute recommended optimization activities and share performance report as optimization completion


• Work with Remote Monitoring System team for correction of inaccurate data/reports


• Develop performance trends and raise flag on deteriorating performance in power solutions/systems and ensure performance improve through escalation/actions


• Produce an accurate daily, weekly and monthly power performance report, in the format designed by the EMEA power team or as advised by line manager or Head of department


• Track performance record of all trials and various initiatives post implementation


• Generate a site-list of sites to be considered for power-efficiency interventions


• Other duties assigned.

Qualifications:

• Knowledge of Grid Supply, Voltage Regulators, AC and DC Generators, DC Power Systems, Various Cooling Systems, Solar Systems and various storage technologies applicable to the telecommunication and Tower industry


• Good presentations skills


• Excellent problem-solving skills


• Good proficiency in MS Office Suite (specifically Excel, Word and PowerPoint)


• Analytical (technically & commercially) skills


• Strong attention to detail and accuracy


• Ability to develop good relationships with stakeholders


• Ability to succeed in a fast-paced & unsupervised environment


• Proficient in relevant telecommunications power systems


• Good written and oral communication skills


• Strong planning and organization skills;


• Self-motivated, able to work both independently to complete tasks.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering – Electrical/Electronics is preferred;


• Must have working knowledge of Remote Monitoring Systems preferably Galooli


• Experience in Telecommunications operations, at least 4 years


• Experience in high level reporting and making presentations

Environment:

• 50% of work will be performed in climate-controlled internal office environment working under normal office conditions. 50% travel will be required in support of the position’s responsibilities.


• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; stand; walk; use hands and finger to feel and handle; reach with arms and hands; talk and hear. While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently is required to stoop, kneel, and crouch; lift weight or exert a force up to a maximum of 25 pounds.
