Job Title: Program Manager, Health and Nutrition


Reports to: Health and Nutrition Coordinator


Direct reports: Officer, Health and Nutrition, Community Empowerment officers

Contract Details:


36 (thirty six) months fixed Term Contract Renewable Subject to Availability of Funds and Performance


Starting Salary of the Pay Grade – Kes 197,077 per month

Job Summary:


The incumbent is responsible to support coordination, planning, management and implementation of the Health, Nutrition and WASH programs projects. The manager will closely support the team and liaise with other functional managers to ensure day to day activities are implemented within the established framework for the project, timescales, budget and quality. S/he will continually monitor all aspects of project performance by instituting the use of necessary project management processes and tools


Main Duties & Responsibilities:


Health and Nutrition Program Management


· Provide technical leadership and management of Concern’s MNCH and Nutrition interventions in Wajir.


· Strengthen/Establish the QA/QI sub-committees that will be reporting to the sub- county QA/QI TWG and UNIT


· Establish/ Strengthen the sub-county and facility level MPDSR committee


· Support the Health and nutrition team implement and monitor activities as per the work plan and CWP.


· Managing Health, Nutrition and WASH results framework within Concern and partners.


· Monitor the programme against objectives outlined in the programme plan and international standards.


· Support the ASAL team in the review and regularly update of detailed implementation plans, phased budgets, procurement plans, M & E plans, and work plans guiding all programme implementation and ensure this is used by the project teams to monitor project progress towards completion.


· Supports the documentation of project activities, achievements and challenges in regular internal reports and also ensures that external reporting obligations are met


· Participate in the development of annual programme proposal and work plans in coordination with the Wajir Health and Nutrition team


· Assists in preparation of programme proposals for submission to donors for funding


· Prepare high quality written reports for Concern and donors (quarterly and annual) and other reports as required.


· Support field teams on effective and quality programme management and implementation.


· Provide technical support to Wajir health and nutrition team in the implementation of health and nutrition program as well as at national level.


· Ensure that the project adheres to Concern’s essential standards on project management


Reporting


· Compilation and submission of SitRep updates


· Compilation and submission on monthly briefs


· Compilation and submission of quarterly reports


· Compilation and submission of donor reports


Representation/ Coordination


· Participation in County level MNCH coordination meetings;


Responding to Emergencies:


· Participate and contribute as necessary towards Concern’s Emergency response as and when necessary


· Comply with Concern’s health, safety and security guidelines during emergencies


Program Participant Protection Policy:


· To adhere to the standards of conduct outlined in the Program Participant Protection Policy and Concern Code of Conduct


· To support and promote the standards outlined in the Program Participant Protection Policy and Concern Code of Conduct to their team, partner organizations and beneficiaries, and be committed to providing a safe working environment


· To contribute to the establishment of preventive measures to reduce the potential for abuse in Concern program (as per P4 section 6)


Job Specification:


· BSc in Nutrition or related field (Masters in Public health or related field is an added advantage)


· At least five (5) years’ experience in Maternal and Child Health and Nutrition programming with experience of nutrition and health system strengthening in both a development and emergency context. Two (2) years’ experience in a management position


· Previous employment or extensive collaboration and networking with NGOs.


· Ability to work in a complex environment with multiple tasks, short deadlines and intense pressure to perform; ability to manage several major multidimensional activities simultaneously.


· Ability to travel extensively to supported sites.


· Proven success partnering with the Ministry of Health and extensive collaboration and networking with NGOs


· Good understanding of cross cutting issues-gender, HIV and AIDS, DRR, etc. and how to integrate them into public health/nutrition programmes


· Excellent interpersonal, communication, networking, coordination and leadership skills Proficiency in the use of computer applications
