Job Description

One of our clients is looking to hire a Project Manager to join their team in Nairobi, Kenya to help grow the business and create an impact in the East African Region.


Since 2012 they have delivered projects in Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Tanzania, Ethiopia, South Sudan, and DRC and supported the delivery of others in Somalia through local partners.


Their client ranges from international donors and development organisations to private sector developers, public sector agencies and community-based organisations and NGOs.


You will be expected to work on projects at extremes of scale, from technical advice and support to the smallest of projects within under-served communities to region-scale infrastructure projects and city-scale developments.


The client delivers a wide range of services: building design and advisory services, master planning, transport planning, renewable energy, business investor advisory services, due diligence reviews, fire engineering, lenders technical advisor, infrastructure advisory services, site development.


We tailor our service offering to complement services typically provided within the region, looking for opportunities to shape a better way of delivering infrastructure and the built environment in the region.


Role



  • Planning, organizing, and directing the completion of specific projects for an organization while ensuring these projects are on time, on budget, and within scope.

  • Oversee complex projects from inception to completion, project managers have the potential to shape an organization’s trajectory, helping to reduce costs, maximize company efficiencies, and increase revenue.

  • Connect with the wider company network to bring our global expertise to the region, recruit and train locally recruited staff and assist in the delivery of projects in a way that is impactful and appropriate within the context.

  • Be flexible and able to assist in all aspects of projects and the business as required.

  • Be able to juggle demands, internal and external and move seamlessly between administration, business development and project delivery as needs arise.


Requirements



  • Recognised leader in your discipline area, with experience in leading the delivery of projects in a variety of scales and contexts.

  • Used to leading a team in project delivery and managing delivery on time and within budget.

  • Have obtained a professional qualification in your field of expertise and be familiar with relevant software and tools for delivering projects within your field and training others in the use of them.

  • Conversant with AMS and finance systems and experienced in the role of project manager and team leader for projects.

  • Be committed to your own professional development and the development of others within your team.

  • Be active in skills networks and internal learning and development opportunities, contributing as appropriate to the broad development of skills within the company.

  • Be an integrator, experienced in connecting our Clients with the breadth and depth of services the company offers.

  • Be able to identify opportunities for a wide range of services and think outside your own discipline area.


Skills and Capabilities



  • Master’s degree in Project Management, Finance, Business Administration other relevant engineering or IT field.

  • At least 13-16 years relevant in project management in consultancy or design experience

  • Be flexible and able to assist in all aspects of projects and the business as required.

  • Registered with your relevant professional body.

  • Well-developed financial and commercial awareness

  • Demonstrated capability in successful project management and delivery of projects.

  • Demonstrated capability in multi-disciplinary team leadership.

  • Proven experience of planning work and resource flow with input into medium term business planning

  • Proven track record in identifying potential risks in project delivery.

  • Comfortable taking key decisions in the bid / no-bid process.

  • Effective oral and written communication skills

  • Ability to think outside your specialism and integrate multi-disciplinary requirements into holistic co-ordinated solutions.

  • Conversant with the range of services offered and their application in different contexts.

  • Experience of managing, mentoring, and developing junior staff.

  • Able to develop successful client relationships.

  • Experience of project delivery from inception through to completion


Desirable:



  • Experience of working in sub-Saharan Africa or similar geographies.
