Our client based in Kikambala, is one of the leading ethical Clothing Factories in the world. They are currently seeking to recruit a Project Officer who will be responsible for ensuring effective implementation of all projects.

Job Description/Requirements


He/she will be responsible for overseeing project work-plan performance, participating in project planning, budgeting, implementation, monitoring, reporting and programme development role will include direct supervision of senior staff (Project Assistants) working in project field locations and financial and administrative responsibility for projects. The role requires the individual to continually strive to improve the impact of current projects through setting and achieving project goals and objectives. The role will include working alongside the management team to scope out potential future projects, while reporting directly to the Project Team Leader and senior management team.

Responsibilities:
•    Oversee the Kujuwa Initiative Program which includes menstrual health management and life skills weekly training in schools, residential camps, parental skills training, and holiday peer sessions.
•    Conduct regular visits to project sites to support the team and monitor the implementation of activities.
•    Actively lead, assist and participate in project events to include meetings, workshops, training sessions etc
•    Ensure transparency, ethical conduct, and efficiency in project implementation.
•    Prepare annual and project action plans for the project in accordance with the annual planning cycle.
•    Support the officers and field assistants in the timely preparation of all reports both monthly and quarterly to ensure they are of the highest quality before submission to management.
•    Participate in conducting joint assessments and planning responses together with other teams and follow up on the recommendations.
•    Actively contribute to the development of proposals and lessons learned processes.
•    Ensure the various project activities are continually aligned with the local authorities, governmental and non-governmental institutions.
•    Identify areas of synergy and collaboration in the field with all other relevant sub-national agencies and organizations.
•    Strengthen communication channels and network with local authorities and any other stakeholders; ensure good relations are maintained.
•    Ensure feedback and participation from beneficiaries are gained, documented, and analyzed.
•    Ensure ongoing community participation in project implementation.
•    Facilitate beneficiaries and community members to identify viable project interventions.
•    Work closely with the Project Assistant to identify, document, and disseminate relevant project successes, challenges and follow up on the implementation of the project’s action points
•    Continuously review SOKO Community Trust strategy and programme approaches to appropriately address and accommodate emerging field context.
•    Continually identify the needs of beneficiaries using both technical skills and local knowledge.
•    Work with the Monitoring and Evaluation Officer to establish monitoring and evaluation systems including indicators.
•    Participate in monthly budget follow up review meetings and ensure the status of all project activities status is updated and submitted to management.
•    Directly supervises and support those under your management.
•    Participate in the recruitment of required field staff in consultation with the Project Team Leader and HR department.
•    In consultation with HR carry out staff development including target setting, performance appraisals, and early identification and timely addressing of potential HR issues.
•    Provide capacity building and support to the Project Assistant Officers and Assistants on relevant topics such as social mobilization, participatory planning and prioritization, activity budget monitoring and other relevant training.
•    Ensure that the Project Assistants implement project activities in line with good budget management and accountability procedures.

Qualifications:
•    Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, Project Management, or related field from recognized University.
•    Professional experience of 5 years in a national or international NGO or charity with a track record in successfully managing inclusive development.
•    Proven experience in results-based management and project cycle management, including assessment, monitoring and evaluation with a sound understanding of budgeting and programme financial management.
•    Good organizational and coordination skills as well as a high level of autonomy and flexibility.
•    Perform duties under minimum supervision.

Monthly Gross Salary:  Ks. 160,000 (Approx. 1,600 USD).
Career Level: Lower Mid-level.
Education: Relevant Bachelor’s Degree.
Location: Nairobi, Kenya.
