Job Description

The office of Medical Research at Kenyatta National Hospital in collaboration with University of Washington is seeking to fill the following position in the project “Integrating PrEP delivery in family planning clinics in Kenya” (FP Plus Study).

Position: Project Technical Assistant (1 position)

Reporting to: Project Coordinator and Principal Investigator

Location: Kisumu County

Essential requirements:

• Must have either Bachelor’s degree, Higher Diploma or Diploma in nursing


• Must be registered by nursing council of Kenya (NCK) and have a valid practicing license


• Must have worked in Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) field for not less than one year


• Excellent computer skills and past experience in electronic data collection using REDCap/ODK


• Past research experience: At least one year


• Experience in data abstractions


• Language skills: fluency in English, Kiswahili


• Team player with ability to work closely with other study and clinic staff


• Ability to travel to different hospitals within Kisumu Counties


• Past experience in mHealth field and conducting standardized patient actor activities will be an added advantage

Duties and Responsibilities

• Train Facilities’ staff on PrEP delivery


• Mentoring facilities on PrEP delivery within family planning clinics


• Monitoring study Short Message service (SMS) activities


• Conduct Continuous Medical Education (CME) on PrEP at facilities where the study is being conducted


• Consent and collect data from study subjects who are participating in a cross- sectional survey


• Abstract family planning (FP) and PrEP data from facilities and input into Android tablet system


• Conduct quarterly county supervision visits together with study coordinator


• Prepare weekly and monthly mentorship reports


• Conducting standard patient actors’ activities


• Assist Project Coordinator with duties as needed
