Responsible for: Analytical Quality Control Laboratory 

Reporting to: Director Research and Product Development

Job Summary

Responsible for the Quality Assurance function that ensures development and documentation of inhouse quality procedures, standards and specifications for finished products, raw materials and packaging materials. The position ensures efficiency of inspection and quality testing that certify products before release for sale and address of any non -compliance issues.

Job Description

1. Responsible for the Quality (QC) and research and development (R&D) functions of the organization.


2. Responsible for developing a quality culture within the organization by training multifunctional teams on quality requirements and recruiting qualified and talented quality personnel. 


3. Be responsible for the proper use of analytical equipment like HPLC ,GLC and other wet chemistry testing equipment including data presentation, interpretation and recommendations for each category of results.


4. Monitor all operations that affect quality, supervise and guide analysts, inspectors, technicians and other laboratory staff 


5. Responsible for the proper use, security, safety, maintenance and calibration of QC Equipment. 


6. Responsible for documentation of procedures and processes that are required for company and laboratory certification to quality management systems (QMS) ISO 9001:2015 and other applicable systems.


7. Design sampling, storage and inspection procedures that ensure efficient testing of raw materials, in process samples, finished products while ensuring traceability.


8. Co-ordinates sampling, testing, monitoring, evaluation, documentation and reporting of the quality assurance activities in a manufacturing environment.


9. Appraise customer requirements, participates in the investigation of product quality related market complaints and ensure their satisfaction.


10. Performs such other duties as may be assigned by management from time to time.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) 

1. Implementation and certification of quality management systems across all functions in the organization. 


2. Minimal complaints arising from quality of raw materials, packaging materials and finished products. 


3. Accuracy of tested samples when benchmarked against other laboratories. 


4. Quality culture across all functions in the organization.

Qualifications 

• Minimum of BSc in Chemistry or related field from a recognized university.

Experience 

• At least 5 years of experience in a busy QC laboratory with a variety of testing equipment. 


• Thorough knowledge on quality assurance methodologies and standards

Key skills and qualities 

• Good analytical and problem solving skills. 


• Sound knowledge of GMP, GLP, analysis 


• Ability to work under pressure. 


• Strong leadership and communication   skills. 


• Integrity.
