Job Description

Sheer Logic Management Consultants is seeking to engage dynamic individuals for Regulatory Officer Position for one of our clients.



  • Develop, implement and manage a regulatory compliance program and control systems for M-Gas processes and policies to prevent or deal with violations of regulatory and legal requirements, industry guidelines and internal policies

  • Standardization of processes to ensure mitigation of risks, maximizing efficiency and effectiveness by formulating reports, policies and procedures

  • Establish and maintain excellent working relationships with governmental, international and industry regulators and associations, monitor developments in standards and regulations and improve group operating practices and processes to ensure compliance with best practice

  • Maintain vigilance to anticipate, identify and control potential regulatory compliance risks to the business and support relevant line managers to implement appropriate mitigations

  • Work closely with the Head of Expansion to support M-Gas operations expansion programme to ensure operations may commence in new geographies in fully regulatory compliant manner, on time and to budget

  • Conduct regular audits on internal processes and procedures in order to monitor and evaluate the efficiency of regulatory compliance program and control systems as part of the risk management process

  • Periodically review established and new processes and reporting as part of system of continuous improvement to identify hidden risks or non- conformity issues

  • Work closely across other departments (including legal, HR, operations, finance) to monitor regulatory compliance with and enforcement of legal requirements, standards and regulations, and to detect potential gaps in how operations are conducted, and mitigate any impact on these business operations

  • Implement and provide training programs related to specific risk management areas as required working with the training team, and guide users where necessary

  • Lead investigations into incidents and near-misses with support from health & safety team, conduct root cause analysis and ensure necessary corrective actions are implemented to prevent future events

  • Develop and implement communications program for alert notifications, frequent regulatory compliance/breach reporting to senior management and external regulatory bodies, and coordinate with heads of department to maintain and action an operational risk database

  • Commitment to continued learning, remaining well-informed regarding internal and external standards


Skills and Qualification:



  • A business acumen partnered with a dedication to compliance with applicable laws, regulations and industry practices

  • Methodical and diligent with outstanding planning and organizational abilities

  • An analytical mind able to “see through” the complexities of procedures and regulations to navigate path to compliant operating practices

  • Familiar with all phases of development and implementation of an effective regulatory compliance program

  • Excellent interpersonal, collaboration and communication skills – in person, in writing and on the phone

  • Sense of urgency/ability to work well under pressure, different priorities and tight deadlines

  • Confidence to explain complex regulatory and compliance issues in a simple and clear manner to business team members.

  • Strong track record of integrity and commitment to business standards, professional ethics and values/principles

  • Excellent knowledge of reporting procedures and record keeping

  • Able to use Microsoft products to a high level

  • Fluent in English and Kiswahili


Experience:



  • At least 5 years’ proven success in regulatory compliance / risk management in a medium to large sized Strong working knowledge of industry standards/regulations, requirements and controls organization


Qualification:



  • Degree in finance, business administration or related field

  • Certified compliance professional qualification
