Job Title: Finance Manager

Reports to: CEO

Job Location: Nairobi, Kenya

Our Client a pioneering and dynamic company that has introduced a new and exciting ethical perspective to risk management  in the Kenyan market is urgently seeking to recruit a talented and reinsurance experienced Finance Manager.

The successful candidate Leading in the finance strategy formulation and implementation to deliver profitability and sound business overall performance in line with the strategic objectives of the business.

Additionally advising the company on finance management and building capacity of other managers to be able to identify and address financial risks and opportunities by performing the following duties;

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• In charge of the Company’s Fiscal activity including but not limited to Financial Planning, budgeting, reporting and auditing.


• Financial policy and strategy development, implementation and review to achieve the set objectives.


• Identify and address financial risks and opportunities for the company


• Development and implementation of investment plans with the approval of the CEO.


• Recommend and implement cost management and control across the company.


• Cash flow management.


• Leading in the preparation and execution of taxation matters.


• Stewardship and management of company assets.


• Managing donor funds and programmes.


• Preparing board papers on finance related issues for both the full board and the Board Committees.


• Leading in implementation and review of financial policies.


• Ensure legal and regulatory compliance – These include but not limited to compliance with KRA and IRA requirements.


• Developing, training, motivating and evaluating departmental staff to achieve highest levels of performance.


• Identifying, implementing and benchmarking best practices in management.


• Determining & coordinating departmental reporting and communication requirements.


• Representing the management in the board whenever needed and providing accurate and timely reports and plans.


• Support other company functions through efficient operations and timely resourcing.


• Achievement of profitability and organization’s optimal financial health.


• Prudent investments to ensure value to the shareholders.


• Timely audits and unqualified opinion on the books of accounts.


• Achievement of set strategic objectives and goals.


• Timely and accurate financial reporting to all relevant stake holders. (The Board, IRA, KRA, management, auditors and other stakeholders.


• Legal & Regulatory compliance.
   Any other duties/functions as may be assigned from time to time.

In addition to the above accounting & finance functions, oversee the following:

• Technical functions of the company with a keen focus on reinsurance and claims with the objective of ensuring value for money.


• ICT project implementation and operations.

Key Competencies & Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance, CPA (K) or ACCA,


• Membership – ICPAK


• Must have at least 10 years’ experience in a busy reinsurance accounting and finance set-up


• Strong analytic skills: able to clearly link financial results to operational performance drivers, generate alternatives and drive positive change.


• Excellent communication skills: able to clearly communicate complex financial information in an easy to understand manner and able to deliver message effectively verbally and in writing


• Ability to be self-motivated with a positive attitude


• Solid work ethic, Organizational skills and the ability to be proactive and take initiative
