ICAP of Columbia University (registered in Kenya as Center for International Programs-Kenya) is working in partnership with the Ministry of Health to strengthen Public Health Initiatives in Kenya. Applications are invited for the following fixed term position.

Job Title:    Research Officer.
Location:    Kisumu with travel to Siaya County.

Position Summary
Under the direction of the Study Coordinator, the Research Officers will be responsible for supporting a prospective cohort study to evaluate the change in SARS-CoV-2 seroprevalence and the prevalence, incidence and impact of COVID-19 among people living with HIV in Western Kenya (I-COPE Study). They will be responsible for timely recruitment and follow-up of study participants and collecting high-quality data while adhering to Good Clinical Practice and protection of human subjects.

Responsibilities
•    Obtain informed consent and complete enrollment procedures for study participants in accordance with study standard operating procedures (SOPs) and ethical research standards
•    Administer face-to-face questionnaires and phone-based surveys to study participants and abstract data from medical records
•    Enter study data into the database
•    Complete daily data checks to ensure that data collected are complete, legible and reliable
•    Maintain confidentiality of study participants, and ensure adherence to principles of Good Clinical Practice and ethics of human subjects’ research
•    Ensure compliance with study protocols and SOPs and identify issues arising during data collection
•    Assist with post-data collection dissemination activities, data deliverables as needed
•    Other relevant tasks as designated by supervisor(s)

Required Qualifications
•    Bachelors’ degree in health sciences such as Medicine, Nursing or Lab science required
•    Minimum two (2) years’ experience in quantitative survey data collection involving human subjects
•    Demonstrated experience participating in field-level data collection as part of a survey, assessment or program monitoring
•    Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
•    High proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
•    Experience working with diverse, medically underserved populations
•    Strong understanding of the Kenyan health context and experience working with people living with HIV strongly preferred
•    Fluent in written and spoken English, Kiswahili and Luo
