Restaurant Chef Jobs vacancy in Kiambu Kenya 2019

Our Client, operating a Restaurant in Kiambu County is seeking to recruit a competent and skilled Chef with a specialty in preparation of both African and Continental Dishes.

Position Title: Chef

Reports to: Restaurant Manager

Role Objective: To oversee the procurement of kitchen supplies. To cook and direct preparation of all meals. (African & Continental dishes)

Responsibilities

• Food products and ingredients costing


• Oversee the preparation of all food types especially African Dishes


• Develop and plan menus and recipes with the team taking into consideration seasonal availability of ingredients


• Ensure that kitchen employees follow proper sanitation/hygiene practices at all times


• Analyze recipe, assign prices to menu items, based on food, labor and overhead costs


• Make requisition for kitchen equipment, supplies and materials as and when required


• Assist management in the recruitment of kitchen staff


• Investigate customer complaints about food and any meal served in the restaurant


• Always check the quality and quantity of procured (raw materials) and cooked meals


• Prepare the Rota for the kitchen staff


• Demonstrate to the kitchen staff all the latest cooking techniques and equipment


• Coordinate and supervise activities of cooks and workers engaged in food production


• Help workers to resolve conflicts before they are escalated


• Instruct kitchen staff in the preparation, cooking, garnishing and presentation of food


• Regularly inspect kitchen facilities & equipment to ensure compliance

Qualifications / Education

• Diploma in Food Production from a Recognized Institution


• Analytical individual with the ability to carry out costing/pricing competently


• At least 2 years of continuous work experience in a busy restaurant


• Excellent food handling and storage procedure knowledge


• Ability to operate most kitchen equipment with ease


• Knowledge in preparation of both African and Continental dishes


• Computer Skills
