Job Title: Senior Accountant

Industry: IT

Location: Nairobi

Gross Salary: Kshs 250,000 – Kshs 350,000

Our client is a start-up founded by technology enthusiasts with more than 30 years’ experience in the data center industry across the world.

They have recently received their series B funding and are looking at expanding their team.

They seek to hire a detail-oriented senior accountant to perform and coordinate accounting duties at the Finance Headquarters (HQ) department within the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain Chart of Accounts


• Inter-company reconciliation


• FX rate distribution and check on revaluation


• Perform consolidation


• Perform all accounting for all Holding companies


• Perform account reconciliation


• Assisting with annual audit preparations


• Prepare tax returns


• Performing other accounting duties as assigned

Skills and Qualifications

• Master degree in Accounting


• Certified Public Accountant – CPA (K).


• Between 5 – 10 years’ experience with accounting and reporting at HQ level in a commercial, international multi company and multi-currency environment


• Working knowledge of tax legislation and GAAP


• Should be familiar with costing, taxation, and costs analysis.


• Strong financial analysis skills


• Should be hands-on and pro-active, self‐motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.


• Basic knowledge and interest/affinity to IFRS and its application and International Accounting Standards(IAS)


• Experienced in handling sensitive information and showing a high level of integrity


• Experience with ZohoBooks is a plus


• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal in English,


• Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills, a strong team player.


• Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and ability to effectively prioritize work to meet deadlines.


• Critical, analytical, and creative thinking to identify and solve problems.


• Ability to train staff both in HQ team as well as Finance teams in operating companies (other countries)
