At KPMG, we have a market-leading Infrastructure team that helps clients manage and optimise their physical assets from strategy, planning, business cases, funding and financing through to construction and operations as well as deal advisory, legal structuring and tax advisory to build, buy and/or sell assets.

KPMG’s vision for the sector is an African continent where the right infrastructure projects are sustainably implemented to connect the region, build prosperity, reduce poverty and enable a better future for all. This individual will be part of the Major Projects Advisory (MPA) services practice, working with a multi-disciplinary team of KPMG professionals with project finance, project management, procurement, accounting and consulting backgrounds. He/she will be responsible for assisting with the delivery of major real estate, capital and/or infrastructure projects, including those for government, private sector and development partners. The infrastructure sub-sectors include transport, water, power and utilities, cities, construction, real estate and social infrastructure.

Key roles and responsibilities:

  • The individual will assist the leadership team in day-to-day engagement management on specific projects and will:

    • Provide leadership, direction, and guidance to junior team members.

    • Review the work of junior members of the team and provide training where necessary.

    • Develop and present client materials including status reports, project reports, and presentations.

    • Actively participate in the hands-on delivery of projects and programs which may include program design and development; benefits and quality management; stakeholder management; portfolio management; program and project planning including milestone management; and risk and issue management.

    • Preparation of proposals to target clients and support in business development efforts.

    • Maintain relationships with key client contacts.

    • Provide research and project management support.

Academic/Professional qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in a built environment related course from a reputable university.

  • 4 - 6 years of experience in real estate, construction, infrastructure project management, and/or consulting. Professional registration within the built environment and/or project management qualifications such as PMP, PRINCE2, or other similar certification, will be an added advantage.

  • Supporting project feasibility, options appraisal, and/or pre-construction project structuring experience.

  • Project procurement experience through to construction management experience.

  • Experience building project financial models and drafting business plans will be an added advantage.

Technical skills and competencies:

  • Strong interest in large complex projects, Public-Private Partnerships (PPP), infrastructure, government, construction, and engineering.

  • Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities.

  • Good interpersonal and client relationship skills.

  • Strong report writing skills.

  • Strong Microsoft Excel / data analysis and manipulation skills.

  • Strong written and verbal business communication skills.

  • Proven ability to multi-task and ensure effective delivery of competing priorities to meet targets and objectives.

Personal attributes:

  • Demonstrate and articulate KPMG values as well as proven capability in:

    • Good communication (written and verbal), numeracy, presentation, and analytical skills.

    • Excellent coordination and planning skills.

    • IT proficiency, especially Microsoft Office.

    • An eye for detail.

    • Team player with leadership potential.

    • Goal-driven and results-oriented mindset.

    • Comfortable with multitasking, flexibility, and open-mindedness.

    • Unquestionable integrity.

We offer:

  • An exciting opportunity to work with a Big 4 firm on major cutting-edge real estate, construction, and infrastructural developments across Africa.

  • Continuous learning and development.

  • Exposure to multi-disciplinary client service teams.

  • Unrivalled space to grow and be innovative.
