Anywair is seeking a Senior Back-End Software Developer, to join their dynamic Tech team.

Anywair is Africa’s pro-poor asset fintech company headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya, a start-up growing exponentially within Kenya.

As a senior backend software engineer, you are part of one of our developer teams working on the core features of the platform.

As a team, you own your backlog and take pride in achieving results.

Your main task is to deliver quality solutions for our end-users and at the same time keep the platform fit for the future. You will be working with a diverse, multi-disciplinary, and driven team that prioritizes impact over cutting-edge methods and continuously probe and explores new opportunities and technologies.

Anywair technology stack currently includes (but is not limited to) AWS, Kotlin, Python, Flask, Vue.js, Postgres, Java, MongoDB, React native, Swift, Spring Boot, Firebase, Celery, Message Queues, Docker, Git.

Responsibilities at Anywair:

• Design and implement features as defined in the Product roadmap


• Review design documents, perform code reviews and weigh in on implementation choices from other technical teams


• Collaborate and support the cross-functional teams to ship scalable software solutions


• Continually improve our codebase with clean and efficient code as well as solve problems using the most appropriate technology


• Contribute to complete migration of legacy codebase to the microservices architecture


• Contribute to the testing infrastructure to increase code coverage for backend modules


• Advance monitoring and alerting capabilities of backend modules to allow proactive improvements to availability and response times


• Technically lead and mentor a team of Backend Engineers to build/extend complex modules


• Thrive in an environment that requires you to partner with multiple cross-functional teams as stakeholders/customers.

Requirements:

• 4+ years of backend software engineering experience


• 4+ years coding in two or more of the following languages: Kotlin, Spring Boot


• Developed and launched large scale consumer applications with the backend on Cloud infrastructure (AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure) using microservices architecture paradigm


• Expert knowledge in REST API design and development for mobile/web use


• Experience setting up CI/CD tools and pipelines


• Experience with Github or Bitbucket


• Security and GDPR are always part of your development cycle


• Expert proficiency in Agile development process


• Excellent ability to prioritize and communicate in a fast-paced environment


• Strong relational and non-relational database experience


• Demonstrated ability to interview candidates and evaluate technical skills
