Job Vacancy: Senior Backend Engineer (Ruby on Rails)
Job Location: Nairobi, Kenya

Our Client with a mission to turning traditional savings cooperatives into digital banks is urgently looking to hire a talented, result driven, experienced backend engineer to join the Engineering Team.
He/she will be part of our client’s Integrations Squad, ensuring our client’s digital banking platform is deeply imbedded into existing infrastructure by performing the following duties;
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Championing high-quality software design and architecture
- Maintaining and extending the backend infrastructure that powers the client’s apps for scale
- Looking after and developing the OPEN API and corresponding integrations
- Developing new integration components that are reusable across the products
- Actively proposing and implementing solutions to ensure the platform is secure, reliable and available
- Liaising with product and engineering to ensure features are implemented following a shared vision.
- Stay on the leading edge of software development practices and dependencies updates
Key Competencies & Qualifications:
- You’ve enjoyed writing in Ruby for 5+ years
- You have great communication and stakeholder management skills
- You take ownership of the code from architecture to deployment
- You have experience with relational databases and modelling entities and their relationships
- You write tests and ensure critical features are always working as expected
- You care about the security implications of your choice
- Solid work ethic, Organizational skills and the ability to be proactive and take initiative
