The Senior Education Officer (ECDE) will be reporting to the County Director of Education for the following Duties and Responsibilities:
 
Duties and Responsibilities
•     Provide policy guidelines on capacity building of early childhood development and education of ECDE personnel.
•     Develop curriculum programmes and be able to interpret the current recommended syllabus by Kenya Institute of curriculum Development (KICD) used in ECDE programmes;
•     Coordinate and supervise ECDE programmes in the Sub-County   Unit;
•     Supervising ECDE Teachers and other Education   staff in the Sub-county Unit;
•     Undertake early identification   of disabilities   and assessment in young learners;
•     Carry out advocacy at the ECDE centres, and at the community level;
•     Facilitate networking and forming linkages with partners;
•     Participate in training ECDE Teachers in certificates, Diploma and proficiency classes
•     Maintain standards and quality assurance of ECDE Programmes;
•     Supervising, monitoring and assessment of ECDE projects in the Sub-county Unit;
•     Facilitate data collection and data analysis (posting data to EMIS - Electronic Management Information Systems accurately).
•     Submitting regular progress reports on ECDE programmes at the Sub-County Unit;
•     Any other duty as may be assigned by the County Director of Education.
 
Requirement for Appointment
•     Must be a Kenyan Citizen;
•     Must have a bachelors degree in Education, preferably in ECDE;
•     Must be a trained Pl Teacher;
•     Must have a minimum of seven (7) years of relevant experience;
•     Must have good communication, interpersonal, supervisory   and problem-solving    skills;
•     Must be computer literate;
•     Must comply with Chapter Six (6) on leadership and integrity
