Software Engineer Job vacancy in Kenya 2021

We're seeking a motivated, smart, energetic software engineer with a focus on web technologies to develop, grow and support custom software systems.

Skills & Qualifications:

● Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science/ Information Technology or equivalent practical experience

● Minimum of 2 years’ experience in software development

● In depth knowledge of object-oriented PHP and Laravel 5 and above, must have developed at least 3 projects with Laravel

● Working knowledge of AWS, Git, Gitlab, SMS and USSD

● Good understanding of the MVC architecture

● Familiar with working with REST API’s and integrating them with systems.

● Must be experienced with LINUX operating system

● Experienced with database systems; MySQL/MariaDB/Oracle/PostgreSQL/MongoDB

● Experience with web servers; NGINX / Apache

● Understand the design approach behind a scalable application

● Well versed with agile methodologies

● Proper and practical understanding of the SDLC process.

Qualities:

● Enjoys problem-solving and collaborating in a team environment - able to work under limited supervision and meet deadlines.

● Good communication skills - ability to ‘dumb down’ technology concepts

● Team player

● Analytical skills and problem-solving techniques

Added Advantage Skills Set

● Experience working with local telco payment service integrations i.e. MPESA, Airtel Money, T-Kash

● Laravel ecosystem knowledge

● Javascript/Vuejs Knowledge

● Familiarity with Elixir or Java (nice to have but not necessary)
