Job Description
The Council of Legal Education has been re-established under the Legal Education Act, No.27 of 2012 with the twin primary purposes of: Promoting legal education and training, and the maintenance of the highest possible standards in legal education providers; and the provision of a system to guarantee the quality of legal education and legal education providers.
Position title: Supervision and Compliance Officer (Investigations)
Grade: CLE 6/5 CLE/JOB-042/2021
Description: The officer will work under the guidance and supervision of a senior officer in ensuring compliance with Legal Education and Training standards, policies and procedures to assure quality in Legal Education.
Responsibilities
a) Assisting in carrying out of office and field based investigations into allegations of violations of the Legal Education Act, standards and applicable rules and Regulations;
b) Assisting in investigative research and determine the appropriate presentation of investigative results;
c) Assisting in the review and assessment of complaints or allegations and formulate investigation plans;
d) Assisting in reviewing and analysing all information to determine its relevance and reliability, conduct interviews of staff and other involved parties;
e) Assisting in conducting compliance checks on all legal education providers;
f) Obtaining and analyse potential documentary and electronic evidence;
g) Assisting in monitoring and reviewing information from legal education providers to detect non-compliance or assess problems;
h) Assisting in writing reports and ad hoc briefs pertaining to investigations; and
i) Assisting in the assessment of an application for recognition & approval of qualifications in law obtained outside Kenya
Qualifications
a) Have Bachelor degree in Law from a recognized institution;
b) Have Post graduate Diploma in Law;
c) Be an Advocate of the High Court or Membership of professional body in good standing;
d) Minimum of three (3) years relevant work experience;
e) Be Proficient in computer applications; and
f) Fulfil the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution

Job Benefits
Appointment will be on permanent and pensionable terms
Salary Scale
- Basic Salary: 96,589 x 8,831 – 105,420 x 8,831 -114,251 x 8,831 -123,082 x 8,831 -131,913 x 8,831 -140,744 per month
- House Allowance: Kshs.28,000
- Commuter Allowance: Kshs.8,000
