A leading Taxi company in Kenya providing world class taxi service with a clean and modern fleet of over 130 vehicles is looking for candidates to fill the position of Human Resource Officer.

Job Purpose: The HR Officer shall provide leadership and be responsible for the development and implementation of the Human Resources strategies, plans, policies and procedures ensuring that they remain pertinent, innovative and consistent to organization’s mission.

He/she will provide functional guidance and advice to staff and management on human resources and related organizational initiatives. The position is based in Nairobi.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Manage organizational and company culture


• Manage the recruitment and selection of staff including preparation of job adverts, shortlisting, interviewing, reference checking and making offers to candidates;


• Develop orientation programs and oversee staff induction for new hires;


• Develop and review HR policies and procedures;


• Manage training and development initiatives;


• Oversee the performance management process including performance appraisals and develop programs that help employees overcome their weaknesses while maximizing their strengths;


• Oversee and manage benefits and compensation;


• Receive, analyze and follow up to ensure resolution of employee grievances and complaints as per the HR policy


• Handle disciplinary actions and terminations;


• Prepare and issue new employee contracts;


• Filing of statutory returns and following up to ensure these are updated in each statutory body’s respective database


• Maintaining the staff files both physically and in the HRMIS system


• Managing staff leave updating the records in the HRMIS system.


• Time and attendance management.


• Support in maintenance of employee information by entering and updating employment and status-changes database as may be assigned;


• Support in coordinating staff engagement / motivation initiatives and welfare activities;


• In-charge of the payroll system and administration including preparation and maintenance of the payroll data and preparation of monthly contribution schedules for timely remittance of statutory deductions;


• Provide feedback to enhance business processes and initiate process improvement to achieve operational excellence


• Perform any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.

Qualifications and Experience required for the role

• Diploma in Human Resources, or CHRP Finalist.


• 2 years of experience as a Human Resource officer.


• Experience with developing and implementing HR policies and practices


• IT Skills and experience in HR related software and systems.


• Experience with handling payroll shall be an added advantage.


• Excellent understanding of the Kenyan Labor laws and HR best practice


• Excellent communication and organizational skills.


• Attention to detail with strong project management skills


• Problem solving and conflict resolution skills

The qualified candidate will be paid a Gross Salary of Ksh. 40,000 per month.
