Job Title: CAD Marker Specialist Intern


Reporting to: Head Pattern Maker


Department: Design


Purpose: Responsible for determining the most efficient layout plan of pattern pieces for a style that to be mass produced, using the CAD system. He/She will work closely with the pattern making team and cutters, guided by the head pattern maker, to ensure that the styles taken to production are accurate and the markers well done to achieve maximum marker efficiency.


KPIs



  • Ensure that patterns used to create production markers are saved in the master archive with the style number and name as per the order sheet. Each style should be saved under their correct categories.

  • Counter check the patterns saved for various styles to confirm if the pattern pieces have been walked and correctly labelled and graded before maker making. The grainline should be indicated in all the pattern pieces.

  • Ensure that they have all details required for marker making, that is, the style name, fabric, sizes required, ratio, cutting table length and fabric width, which will be used as guide when laying out the plan.

  • Determine the best layout of pattern pieces to minimize waste of fabric.

  • Consult with the head of design or head pattern maker, in case changes need to be made on pattern so as to achieve the best marker efficiency.

  • Suggest tweaks that can be done to a design so as to reduce fabric wastage.

  • Continually review and improve the marker making process working closely with the head pattern maker and cutting department.

  • Ensure that markers created are all plotted and taken to the cutting department with their approved samples.

  • Organizing, planning and prioritizing work as per the collections being done.

  • Make sure that production order sheets have the mini markers and measurement sheet attached to them, with the correct information.


Responsibilities



  • Creating production markers for various styles.

  • Ensure that fabric width of approved production styles is given before marker making

  • Confirm patterns are well detailed before making the marker.

  • Adjusting replenishment markers to fit the fabric width and the ratio required.

  • Counter checking markers for accuracy.

  • Create markers with the best efficiency and reduce fabric wastage,

  • Plot markers for production.

  • Ensure that the marker created is within the dimensions of the cutting table and fabric width

  • Coordinate with the relevant team from production to solve any challenges with the marker.

  • Organize and plan work for the day so as to achieve the daily target.

  • Comply production order numbers for the day.

  • Ensure all production markers are well documented in the master pattern archive.

  • Communicate to the IT department in case TUKACAD or the plotter have technical issues.

  • Loading paper on the plotter.

About you



  • Training in Pattern Drafting (Degree or Diploma / Certificate)

  • At least 1 years’ experience in a similar environment

  • Knowledge in Pattern Making
